Perinatal Mental Health:
“You’re glowing!” “You must be over the moon!” “Treasure every moment!”
As pregnant women and new moms, there are so many expectations placed on us about how we should feel. We may have dreamed about pregnancy and motherhood for so long that we have our own internalized pressure and expectations. Often, how you actually feel does not match up with how you think you should feel. One in seven mothers experience depression and anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum. You may struggle with symptoms like crying, loneliness, obsessive worries, exhaustion, intrusive scary thoughts, mood swings, relationship conflict. This experience can be incredibly isolating and overwhelming to expectant and new mothers.
Therapy can help! Therapy provides a safe space to explore how you are feeling with support and without judgment. I will help you to recognize and build on your personal strengths. We will work together on developing coping skills, building confidence and adjusting to your new role.
Babies are always welcome in session. I also provide telehealth sessions for new parents who have difficulty getting out of the house.
Navigating Life Transitions:
Graduating from college. Moving to a new city. Starting or ending a relationship. Your child growing up and ‘leaving the nest.’ We go through many transitions throughout our lifetimes, and each one has the potential to be very exciting but also very challenging. These life transitions can cause debilitating stress and anxiety. Your ability to cope with life changes can be affected by many factors, including your physical & emotional health, support system, past history of transitions, and financial situation.
Therapy can help you to not only survive these transitions, but to grow and thrive. I will help you to discover your personal strengths and build your confidence to meet your challenges head on. Together we can move you from feeling anxious and overwhelmed to feeling hopeful and empowered.
